One of the critical qualities that gain the confidence of investors and consumers is transparency in climate actions. There are platforms dedicated to standardising impact monitoring to have a science- based, internationally accepted framework.
Initiatives relevant to Climate Action can be broadly divided into: Disclosure platforms, like CDP GHG target-setting Platforms, like SBTi Reporting Frameworks like GRI Goal Setting Platforms like RE100, Net-Zero Certification Standards like Carbon Standards, I-RECs .
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT CLIMATE INITIATIVES?
Some of the climate initiatives we support are:
- RE100 is a collaborative initiative of businesses committed to using 100% renewable electricity in their own operations and supply chains globally.[1]
- The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) enables companies to set GHG reduction targets aligned with climate science and limiting global temperatures in accordance with the Paris Agreement sent new opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.[2]
- CDP is a non-profit that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.[3]
- Carbon Standards maintain the quality assurance of the carbon credits market. Similarly, I-RECs is a tracking system that can track attributes of renewable electricity production from its generation to its place of consumption.
- Net-Zero target is when a company decides to neutralise their emissions by a stated time.
- GRI is reporting framework allowing companies to report their economic, social and environmental impacts.[4]
