RE100
RE100 is a global initiative bringing together businesses committed to using 100% renewable electricity. Companies publicly commit to switching to renewable energy as a part of their climate change strategy. We help companies set RE100 goals and develop a renewable energy sourcing strategy.
WHAT IS RE100?
RE100 is the global corporate renewable energy initiative bringing together ambitious businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.
It is a disclosure platform covering various industries and sending a powerful message to governments and markets about the urge to switch to renewable electricity.
RE100 advocates for a renewable electricity change at both global and local levels to facilitate the energy transformation of the companies and impact the policies, especially in places with little or no access to renewable electricity.

WHAT IS THE RE100 TARGET?
It is a consumption target and includes both self- produced and grid-connected electricity usage. The goal is 100% renewable electricity consumed by the target year. It encompasses all operations within Scope 2 and any portions related to electricity consumption in Scope 3.
The minimum requirements are:
100% by 2050, with interim steps of at least:
60% by 2030
90% by 2040

HOW CAN A COMPANY BECOME A RE100 MEMBER?
To join RE100, the following criteria are expected to be met:
1. To have an electricity consumption greater than 0.1 TWh/year.However, companies with smaller consumption can be considered if they are key players in a RE100 priority region and/or their industry/RE100 target sector.
2. The companies must have a RE strategy and a target year to achieve it.
3. It is mandatory for all companies to report their progress on an annual basis via the RE100 Reporting Spreadsheet or the CDP climate change questionnaire.

WHAT ARE THE SOURCES OF RE CONSIDERED UNDER RE100?
Electricity produced from the following energy sources is
considered renewable under RE100:
- Geothermal
- Solar
- Water, including tidal energy and large and small hydropower
- Wind as a renewable energy source
- Biomass (including biogas), provided it meets strict
sustainability criteria.
Hydro and biomass energy generated electricity must strictly meet the requirements on sustainability.
