Project Description
This is a small hydro project with a nominal reservoir and civil construction work, thus having a relatively low environmental impact compared to a large hydro. The project created 61 new employment opportunities, including 40 in the local area, with salaries exceeding the minimum wages.
The project facilitated several local development projects, such as the construction of local roads, bridges, drainage systems, mosques, and schools. Moreover, the cultivation of Centrosema sp was done after the construction period to reduce erosion. All of this will help to improve the well-being and health of the locals in the surrounding area.
The Endikat River hydropower project has three turbines, each of 3.3 MW capacity, generating about 61,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, reducing around 46,500 tons of CO2 annually.
